Imani

This time, when the sun woke me up, it wasn't quite as blinding. It was still bright and intrusive, but it didn't make me want to curl up beneath the blankets and hide there for the rest of my life. I still wanted to go back to sleep, but since Jacques apparently didn't believe in rooms having blackout curtains, it didn't seem like that was a feasible idea.

I stretched out, letting out a low groan as my muscles tightened. This bed was much bigger and softer than the one in my room, and that just made it even harder to not stay beneath the blankets and try for a bit more sleep. Especially after last night...

Just thinking about the way Jacques had carried me up to his room made me shiver. He'd spent a good bit of time going over every inch of my body, making me feel things I hadn't even dreamed of. It'd been like our tryst in the ballroom except so much better. It wasn't until I felt like I was going to turn into a puddle and die that Jacques had shooed me off to the bathroom to clean up.

When I'd come back out, the bed sheets had been changed and there were silver platters of food set out on the bed. Just the sight of them made my stomach rumble, and Jacques had taken great pleasure in feeding me while we were both still naked in his bed. Once the food was gone, he's gone right back to devouring my body until I couldn't take it anymore.

I still wasn't sure what to think about the mysterious Jacques, but it was hard to truly hate a man whose very name made my entire body quiver. Even now, I found myself reaching across the bed for him, but he wasn't there. Which meant if I wanted to see him again, I had to get my lazy butt up and go search for him.

I'd just finished rubbing the sleep from my eyes when there was a soft tapping at the door. I looked around in alarm, but my clothes were on the other side of the massive room. Before I could yell out for the person to hold on a minute, the door started to open, and I pulled the bedsheets up to my chin.

Elise grinned at me as she walked in carrying a large platter of food. She seemed to be in an especially good mood, and that made me feel uncomfortable. "I'm glad to see you're in a better mood today!" she said cheerfully as she brought the platter over and set it in front of me on the bed. "Jacques had me send up some food for you this morning. He figured you'd be famished."

I nodded, feeling a warmth in my chest. After last night, it would've been a miracle if I hadn't been starving. Jacques certainly knew all the best ways to burn calories. "Where is he?" I asked, forcing those thoughts from my mind.
